THE STORY
I was testing the bike in the garage before putting it back in service for the summer. The bike is kept in a garage that is sealed from dust and dehumidified so moisture is 45% or less. So I checked the oil and started the engine which started and ran like clockwork. Then I tested the windshield, the beams, and the horn.

Then I tested the right blinker. Front was working, but back was not. As I was looking again at the front to check it was still working, a loud BOOM happened (so loud I thought an anvil fell in the garage (it's large and there are several cars and bikes in there), then I saw smoke coming out from under the top case. As I bent down on the back of the bike I could see a small flame exactly centered under the top case. I immediately opened the seat and disconnected the battery. But that was the wrong move because in those 2 minutes the flames started coming out from under the top case and reaching the ceiling of the garage. So I pulled it outside quickly. Too late for the fire extinguisher. I took a hose and it was settled in 15' minutes during which the entire back burned.

The bike burned because of a short circuit in the battery of the alarm (located under the top case). The battery was disconnected immediately after the fire started. We were able to stop the fire with a water hose in 15 minutes but the entire plastic of the back of the bike is burned. some outer parts may be recuperated. All metal parts likely can be cleaned and re-used. The chassis, likely has no issues.


CONDITIONS
The front of the bike is perfect and everything works like new
Color is a very dark metal brown
It has the single CD player in the front (not the changer in the left case)
It comes with 3 windshields:

• S Original BMW
• L for mild cold
• XXL for very cold winter

It also comes with:

• right mirror (the one installed is cracked)
• Long antenna (it was not installed when it burned)
• Hex GS-911 diagnostic plug
• Avon Storm 2 Ultra tires about 50%
• Extra lambda probe (bought 2 by mistake)

2024: fuel filter, air filter, engine oil, oil filter, gearbox oil, cardan oil
2023: Lambda probe (original had failed), engine oil, oil filter, gearbox oil, cardan oil
2021: new center stand actuator
